This portfolio contains information about my experience in the fields of organizational leadership and professional writing. In the Organizational Leadership section, you will find information about my experience with various organizations, while in the Professional Writing section, you will be able to examine several types of documents that I have created. My Education
I am currently working on my Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Communication at Missouri State University. This degree combines oral and written communication skills with relevant management and psychology concepts. I am learning practical skills in the fields of professional writing and document design to complement my goals in the area of organizational leadership. I plan to graduate in May 2014.
My Experience
In the field of organizational leadership, I have gained practical experience through Gamma Alpha Lambda (GAL), a Christian sorority, and Springfield Community Church. In GAL, I have held several leadership roles, including sisterhood chair, missions chair, and vice president of rush. Through these positions, I have learned valuable skills in event-planning, administration, and interpersonal communication. At Springfield Community Church, I hold an event-planning role in which I plan fellowship and outreach activities for the church body.
In the professional writing sphere, I have written and designed several types of documents through practical projects. Many of these projects were created for and used by Gamma Alpha Lambda. Document formats I have created include brochures, manuals, proposals, and many others.
My Goals
My main professional goal is to lead religious or nonprofit organizations, such as church or other Christian ministries. I hope to impact families from a variety of backgrounds, help those in need, and spread the love of Christ to my community. To support my family and ministries, I would like to pursue a freelance career in professional writing and design, but organizational leadership will always be my primary focus.
